Dr. Shorr Retirement

I came to Washington in 1974 to complete my pediatric residency training at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In 1975, after completing my training, I joined Dr. Clarence Rozgay at Southcenter Medical Clinic where I started caring for many of my current patients’ parents and a few grandparents. I love newborns and when I started practice I went to eight hospitals to see babies. I built my practice very quickly and developed many skills for taking care of sick newborns. I was the first pediatrician to bring to Valley Medical Center premature babies from the UW Medical Center for prolonged premature care until discharge. In 1983 I formed a new practice with Dr. Peyton Gaunt, Renton Pediatric Associates, adjacent to Valley Medical Center so we could be more available for sick newborns. The practice grew over the years, we added new pediatricians and we were recognized as one of the best pediatric groups in South King County. Through all my years of practice I have loved taking care of patients and I have loved teaching. Over the years I have had medical students in patient rooms with me observing. In recognition for my teaching contributions, I was promoted to Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington. In 2017 we have 8 pediatricians and two clinics. Dr. Gaunt retired several years ago and now after almost 43 years in practice, my time to retire has arrived. I plan to travel, read, take classes, work in the garden, take long walks with the dogs and just relax. I will greatly miss all of my patients, my colleagues, and staff as I move into this next chapter of my life.

My last day in the office will be September 27, 2017. If you are a patient and available, please come to say goodbye at my retirement party on October 1, 2017 from 2pm - 5pm in the Renton office waiting room.
